Introduction: Environmental microbial contamination of pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device production facilities continues to be a challenge for the industries. Current expectation from the regulatory bodies is to have an accurate identification system for microorganisms isolated from the facilities to aid in the environmental monitoring and product testing. In addition, correct identification can be useful to track and trend the facilities environmental microorganisms and put in place microbial alert and action restrains1.
